On the month of May of each year, the FELY’S JEWELRY AND PAWNSHOP – OZAMIZ Branches celebrates its Anniversary of being established in this booming City of Ozamiz City in the year 1981. The Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop gives so much love to the City of Ozamiz because it is in this City that the Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop’s proprietor have graduated his college education and have had his first taste of running a business of his own. Luckily for the Ozamiz residents in particular and to the residents of other localities in particular where he have branched-out this pawnshop with the same name, that the proprietor have always kept burning the spirit of love and compassion to the clients, patrons and suki of the Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop and his awareness of the pawnshop’s Corporate Social Responsibility to its clients which is the reason why the sponsoring by Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop of a Free Medical and Dental Outreach Mission continues from year to year.
The idea of sponsoring a Free Medical, Dental and “Tuli” Mission was adapted by the Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop only in the year 1997 and was found out to have a great impact to the community involved that is why it had been done every year. Since then, for the City of Ozamiz Barangays and that of the adjacent barangays in Tangub, Clarin and Tudela, the pawnshop have given circumcision to 205 boys, extracted tooth of 947 patients and given medical consultation and medicines to 7,237 medical patients.
For this year’s outreach mission, we have gone back to Barangay Carmen where we have previously conducted an outreach mission in the year 1998 because its residents have been victims of fire that raze a portion of barangay’s seaside area a couple of months ago. During this year’s outreach mission at Barangay Carmen, we are able to serve 268 medical patients and was able to have tooth extraction from 58 dental patients. The outreach was served by the City Health Officer Dr. Daniel Medina, MD, with the help of the Integrated Management of Children’s Illness (IMCI) Trained Public Health Nurses; Ms. Wenifreda Baliton and Ms. Luzminda Ponce together with a 12 Nurses under the Nurses Deployment Program. The Ozamiz City Dental Bus was also around to serve the dental patients with Dr. Jojie Demecillo, DMD and Dr. Marivette Salomon, DMD.
The FELY’S JEWELRY AND PAWNSHOP gives its thanks to the usual cooperation of the City Health Office of Ozamiz headed by DR. DANIEL MEDINA, M.D. and to the two Dentist who have always served us, Dr. Jojie Demecillo, DMD and Dr. Miravette Salomon, DMD as well as the NDP Nurses who have served in the medicine dispensing section. We also give our thanks to the Barangay Carmen Barangay Officials headed by Barangay Chairman Nelson B. Canumay together with the Barangay Health Workers for their assistance and support.
