The month of October is considered by the Catholics all over the world as the month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. For the Province of Bohol, particularly in the City of Tagbilaran, there is a Parish Church called the Birhen sa Barangay ( which is the Diocesan Shrine in Barangay Cogon which was named as such maybe because it serves as the rallying point for all the GSKs or the Gagmay nga Simbahanong Katilingban for the city in particular and the province in general. The said parish held a Free Medical and Dental Mission in Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City where it is situated.
The management of Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop – Tagbilaran Branches, upon knowing about the upcoming Medical and Dental Missions, immediately did not think twice on being one of the sponsors of the said medical and dental mission through providing the needed medicines and dental anesthesia and medicines as it has done in the other free medical and dental outreach missions in the Island of Mindanao which now has covered 156 barangays there at which was able to serve 64,729 patients.
The said medical and dental mission was served by medical doctors and dentists (of which Dr. Dominic Nazareno, MD and Dr. Raul Orilla, DMD and Dr. Yvette Morgia Navarro, DMD were prominently seen).
Also present during the medical and dental missions were the doctors and nurses from the Tagbilaran City Health Office together with the Parish Officers, parish workers, Mrs. Aquilina Malanog (mother of Monsignor Jeffrey Malanog)and Barangay Poblacion I (2nd District of Tagbilaran) Barangay Chairwoman Arlene Karaan. Incidentally, Monsignor Jeffrey Malanog was an Elementary classmate of the FELY’S JEWELRY AND PAWNSHOP proprietor MR. NORRIS C. OCULAM, hence aside from his innate enthusiasm to help in the Free Medical and Dental Outreach mission, he was more inclined to help in any which way he can.
The other medicines brought in by the Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop were be used in the parish clinic which is open daily to serve the parishioners. The management of the Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop – Tagbilaran Branches wishes to thank the Barangay Cogon Barangay Chairwoman and Birhen sa Barangay Parish Church Officers for giving us this seldom chance to serve the people.
