Unlike Fely’s Jewelry & Pawnshops in Mindanao, which sponsors medical and dental outreach programs among others during their branch anniversaries, the Tagbilaran branch has chosen to support the children confined at the Bohol Crisis Intervention Center. Every year, they sponsor a Christmas party for children who have been victims of rape and abuse. The children are treated to a feast of sumptuous food, including lechon, spaghetti, fried chicken, chop suey, salt & pepper fish, etc. For dessert, they enjoy Jco donuts and ice cream. Additionally, the children receive gifts of toiletries, and bags of candies are distributed to them.
This tradition of hosting a Christmas party has been ongoing for the past two decades, and it is committed to continuing as long as Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop exists. The support provided is not limited to Christmas; occasionally, gifts and snacks or food are brought to the children to uplift their spirits.
The children reside in the facility while their cases are ongoing, preventing potential influence from their mothers and relatives who may discourage them from pursuing the case. This is because unfortunately, in many instances, fathers and close relatives are the ones victimizing these children who live with them. To ensure the children’s safety and prevent interference from family members, parents and relatives are prohibited from visiting, leading to a sense of loneliness and separation from siblings and relatives.
In an effort to alleviate this loneliness and infuse the spirit of Christmas, Fely’s Jewelry and Pawnshop organizes a festive party for the children. Raymond and Daisy, along with their daughters, close friends to the proprietor, contribute by bringing food and candies and actively participating in the celebration. In return, the children delight the attendees with songs and dances.
Witnessing the children having fun and enjoying the meal brings immense joy to all involved in this heartfelt initiative.
